{"id":367520,"date":"2010-02-26T19:34:46","date_gmt":"2010-02-27T00:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/press-releases\/free-dictionaries-send-district-150-kids-on-a-word-quest"},"modified":"2010-02-26T19:34:46","modified_gmt":"2010-02-27T00:34:46","slug":"free-dictionaries-send-district-150-kids-on-a-word-quest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/367520","title":{"rendered":"Free dictionaries send District 150 kids on a word quest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Destinie Stringer proudly held onto her new dictionary, a smile illuminating her small face.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cIt has my name in it,\u201d the third grader said to her friend Catera Anderson, who also held open a brand new dictionary.<\/p>\n<p>\nNearby, Taya Ferguson pointed out the longest word in the dictionary to her friends, Alexis Carter and Jonathon Savka. <span id=\"more-21489\"><\/span>The mega-syllabic word took up the full last page of the paperback books presented Friday to the youths at Whittier Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe books were a gift from the Rotary Club of\u00a0 Peoria North, which this week provided dictionaries to every third grade student \u2014 about 1,100 kids in all \u2014 in Peoria School District 150.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cI think it\u2019s really cool. I\u2019ve never had a dictionary, at least not one this big before,\u201d Taya said as she continued to search the book for new and interesting words to impress her classmates.<\/p>\n<p>\nThis is the second-year the Rotary Club has provided dictionaries to Peoria school children. The books were funded by a combination of contributions by Rotary members and a grant from the Rotary International Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cOne of Rotary\u2019s major emphasis is literacy.
