By contrast, Santa Clara County has 60. <\/p>\n<p>Some local artists think the business is oversaturated. That&#8217;s why they eagerly attended a meeting Thursday with Sacramento County officials, who discussed plans for a body art ordinance the supervisors will discuss in May. <\/p>\n<p>While it is doubtful the supervisors have much experience with tattoos, it&#8217;s possible they could enact a worthwhile ordinance.<\/p>\n<p>Artists using tattoo equipment should have basic training to prevent the spread of hepatitis and HIV. Sanitation is essential, even for people who want images of their dogs tattooed onto their backs.<\/p>\n<p>But will such regs actually slow down the local growth of the tattoo business? It&#8217;s doubtful. Body artists are rock stars in this town.
