{"id":369154,"date":"2010-02-27T06:13:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-27T11:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-966689172282651657"},"modified":"2010-02-27T06:34:04","modified_gmt":"2010-02-27T11:34:04","slug":"mummy-gets-high-tech-treatment-at-bmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/369154","title":{"rendered":"Mummy gets high-tech treatment at BMC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.berkshireeagle.com\/local\/ci_14466448\">Berkshire Eagle<\/a> (Jenn Smith)<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though he may be a mummy, the Egyptian priest Pahat can still speak volumes about his ancient civilization.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday morning, the nearly 2,300-year-old Berkshire Museum resident and the lower half of his sarcophagus were wrapped to brave the winter weather to undergo a CT scan at Berkshire Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>The procedure uses advanced X-ray technology as a tool in the scientific study of mummies.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart Chase, executive director of the museum, was among a crowd of nearly 20 other museum, medical and press personnel who squeezed into BMC&#8217;s CT scanning suite to watch the process firsthand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a rare situation to have a mummy and to be a museum that&#8217;s so close to a hospital with the technology to be able to do this,&#8221; said Chase. &#8220;It&#8217;s an exciting new way to unlock the mysteries of the past.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pahat himself was first scanned in 1984.
