\"http:\/\/i.usatoday.net\/communitymanager\/_photos\/lifeline-live\/2010\/02\/28\/osmond2x-large.jpg\"<\/img>L.A. authorities today continued their investigation into the apparent suicide<\/a> of Michael Blosil, the 18-year-old son of entertainer Marie Osmond.<\/p>\n

Details about the case<\/a> — including where he died — remain unclear.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Police Department officials told KTLA News<\/a> that officers responded to a report of a suicide at the 900 block of South Flower Street about 10 p.m. Friday. Traffic in that area was diverted during the investigation, but more details were not immediately available.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

That location is near the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Tammy Nguyen,
\na student at the institute, said Blosil attended the school, majoring in
\napparel manufacturing. Nguyen said that she gathered with other
\nstudents at the lobby of the Met, an apartment building at Flower and
\n9th streets, Friday night, and that she saw Blosil\u2019s body covered with
\na white sheet on the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone was in shock,\u201d Nguyen said. Blosil lived on the eighth floor. <\/p>\n

Blosil’s death<\/a> was being investigated by the Los
\nAngeles County coroner\u2019s office, said coroner’s Lt. Brian Elias.<\/p>\n

Osmond, 50, said in a statement, \u201cMy
\nfamily and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our
\ndear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this
\ndifficult time.\u201d <\/p>\n

Osmond
\nis best known for the ABC variety show \u201cDonny & Marie\u201d in the late
\n1970s, in which she starred with her brother. She and her brother
\nhave performed on ABC\u2019s \u201cDancing With the Stars,\u201d and now have a variety show<\/a> at the Flamingo Showroom in Las Vegas. <\/p>\n
