World Airports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Erroll Southers, who in January withdrew his nomination to head the Transportation Security Administration after encountering Republican opposition, is resigning as assistant police chief of Los Angeles World Airports.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter released Monday, Southers said his last day will be March 27. <\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles World Airports oversees Los Angeles International, Ontario International and Van Nuys airports. The police force has about 1,200 officers. <\/p>\n<p>Nancy Castles, a LAWA spokeswoman, said Southers was not asked to leave.
