Iran<\/a>\u2019s foreign minister says former US<\/a> President George W. Bush\u2019s so-called war on terror<\/a> has actually served as a guise for training terrorists.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes fighting terrorism<\/a> mean supporting professional killers?\u201d Manouchehr Mottaki asked at the UN<\/a> Human Rights Council in Geneva, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast who accompanied him on the trip.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe US<\/a> must explain why it has scheduled a meting with AbdolMalek Rigi. The US<\/a> must explain what AbdolMalek Rigi was doing at the US<\/a> base in Afghanistan<\/a> and why he was going to meet high-ranking US<\/a> officials at the US<\/a> Manas base near the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Last week, Iranian security forces captured ringleader of the Jundallah terrorist group, Abdolmalek Rigi, while he was on a flight from Dubai to Kyrgyzstan.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoesn\u2019t the US<\/a> know that over 400 people have been killed or wounded in criminal activities carried out by this group?\u201d Mottaki asked.<\/p>\n

Mehmanparast said that the Iranian foreign minister had also criticized the United States\u2019 European allies for removing the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from their list of terrorist groups.<\/p>\n

The MKO, listed as a terrorist group in Iran<\/a>, Iraq<\/a>, Canada<\/a>, and the US<\/a>, has claimed responsibility for numerous deadly attacks against Iranian government<\/a> officials and civilians over the past 30 years.<\/p>\n

The attacks include the assassination of the late president Mohammad-Ali Rajaei, prime minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar and judiciary chief Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti.<\/p>\n

The MKO is also known to have cooperated with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in suppressing the 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq<\/a> and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.<\/p>\n

The organization is, moreover, notorious for using cult-like intimidation tactics against its own members, such as the torture<\/a> and murder of defectors.<\/p>\n
