{"id":380139,"date":"2010-03-02T07:48:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-02T12:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"e2249889-c78b-43e3-9643-b1d7d4aa587b:401951"},"modified":"2010-03-02T07:48:00","modified_gmt":"2010-03-02T12:48:00","slug":"transalta-sell-off-looks-overdone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/380139","title":{"rendered":"TransAlta sell off looks overdone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Down 6% since reporting disappointing earnings last week, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.financialpost.com\/markets\/company\/index.html?symbol=TA&amp;id=35241\" >Transalta Corp.<\/a> shares have been punished enough, says Odlum Brown&#39;s Cory O&#39;Krainetz.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;TransAlta appears to be taking baby steps rather than a giant leap forward after a very challenging year.&quot; the analyst said.  <\/p>\n<p>&quot;However, we remain confident that the company is moving in the right direction and earnings will grow as market conditions improve and plant availability increases.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. O&#39;Krainetz called the sell off a buying opportunity and left his $27 unchanged. He expects better power demand and stronger natural gas prices over the next year to improve TransAlta&#39;s earnings. At the same its Canadian Hydro acquisition improves the long term growth profile of the company. <\/p>\n<p>Transalta&#39;s dividend, which currently yields 5.2%, will likely be maintained until market conditions improve, he added.  <\/p>\n<p>&quot;This will allow cash to be used to strengthen the balance sheet and support attractive growth opportunities within its development portfolio.
