Police were in the area on an unrelated call about 10:28 a.m. when officers learned of the alleged battery nearby, said Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda <\/p>\n
The belt caused injuries to the child’s face, arms, chest and back, according to statements at Hare’s bond hearing Tuesday morning. Police notified Illinois Department of Family and Children Services and the child is now living with a relative, Swoboda said. <\/p>\n
Kane County Judge Bruce W. Lester set Hare’s bond at $17,000 and he remains in custody at the county jail, unable to post that amount, pending a scheduled court appearance March 11.<\/p>\n
He could be sentenced to between two and five years in prison if found guilty of the most serious charge, authorities said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
