Since then, I have scaled back considerably.&nbsp; Regardless, when I moved into my apartment that had the least spacious walk in closet (complete with orange shag covered A\/C ductwork going through it), I was definitely in need of some serious <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Household-Essentials-2134-Chrome-Revolving\/dp\/B000P6CEQW?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=ikeahacker-20&amp;link_code=btl&amp;camp=213689&amp;creative=392969\" >shoe racks<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=ikeahacker-20&amp;l=btl&amp;camp=213689&amp;creative=392969&amp;o=1&amp;a=B000P6CEQW\" style=\"border: medium none ! important; margin: 0px ! important; padding: 0px ! important;\" width=\"1\" \/>.<\/p>\n<p>Being a rental, I didn&#8217;t want to spend a ton.&nbsp; I was having a hard time staying under $100 with the typical bracket and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Stacking-Shoe-Rack-Pairs-Set\/dp\/B00319CJ2Y?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=ikeahacker-20&amp;link_code=btl&amp;camp=213689&amp;creative=392969\" >shelf units<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=ikeahacker-20&amp;l=btl&amp;camp=213689&amp;creative=392969&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00319CJ2Y\" style=\"border: medium none ! important; margin: 0px ! important; padding: 0px ! important;\" width=\"1\" \/> sold at home stores.&nbsp; Having no saw or skills in that arena, my husband and I needed pre-cut shelves too.&nbsp; We found our cheap fix with the Ikea <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/ms\/en_CA\/img\/assembly_guides\/BABORD_shoerack_68270509.pdf\" >Babord<\/a>, which is actually a freestanding two shelf wood shoe rack.&nbsp; If I remember correctly, the Babord was ridiculously cheap at $5.<\/p>\n<p>So we bought<br \/>\n(1) 3 Babord units, which tallied to 6 slatted shelves,<br \/>\n(2) the last 2 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/us\/en\/catalog\/products\/30094629\" >Ekby Tryggve<\/a> solid wood shelves in the store (for my heels without boxes), and<br \/>\n(3) 12 50-cent brackets (unknown model) from Ikea.<\/p>\n<p>The two wall brackets were from our local Ace hardware, which were cheaper and better quality than the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/us\/en\/catalog\/products\/S09838660\" >Antonius units<\/a> from Ikea.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile-photo\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_XGRz6uWGK3I\/S4DWJqx-eOI\/AAAAAAAAHgY\/8z2Dk7XzFSY\/s1600-h\/IMG_1500-729839.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" height=\"400\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440583811454630114\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_XGRz6uWGK3I\/S4DWJqx-eOI\/AAAAAAAAHgY\/8z2Dk7XzFSY\/s400\/IMG_1500-729839.JPG\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>\nMy husband rigged two of the Babord units to have only single shelves so I could fit my boots and large show boxes underneath.&nbsp; The rest of the Babord shelves were attached to the brackets using plastic security ties.
