{"id":384865,"date":"2010-03-03T14:30:23","date_gmt":"2010-03-03T19:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gas2.org\/?p=5586"},"modified":"2010-03-03T14:30:23","modified_gmt":"2010-03-03T19:30:23","slug":"house-republicans-latest-in-series-to-try-and-thwart-new-epa-emissions-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/384865","title":{"rendered":"House Republicans Latest In Series To Try and Thwart New EPA Emissions Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5587 aligncenter\" title=\"Greenhouse_Gas_Farm\" src=\"http:\/\/go635254.s3.amazonaws.com\/gas2\/files\/2010\/03\/Greenhouse_Gas_Farm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eighty-four US House Republicans yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2010-03-02\/epa-carbon-pollution-rules-would-be-blocked-by-lawmakers-plans.html\" >introduced a bill<\/a> to nullify the EPA finding late last year that greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide represent a threat to human health and therefore should be regulated as pollutants under the clean air act\u2014also known as the &#8220;endangerment&#8221; finding.<\/p>\n<p>Although this brings the focus back on Republicans as the party that is anti-climate change regulation, there has been a flurry of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greencarcongress.com\/2010\/03\/gop-20100303.html\" >recent activity to nullify the EPA&#8217;s findings from both sides of the aisle<\/a>, including bills introduced by Democrats and Republicans alike to accomplish essentially the same goal.<\/p>\n<p>If successful, the bill could also derail the <a href=\"http:\/\/gas2.org\/2009\/09\/15\/white-house-unveils-landmark-fuel-economy-and-emissions-standards\/\" >amazing consensus recently reached between automakers and the government to raise fuel economy standards and lower vehicle emissions<\/a> dramatically over the next several years.
