{"id":386137,"date":"2010-03-03T16:08:43","date_gmt":"2010-03-03T21:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.campaignforliberty.com\/blog.php?view=33182"},"modified":"2010-03-03T16:08:43","modified_gmt":"2010-03-03T21:08:43","slug":"utahs-governor-signs-nullification-legislation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/386137","title":{"rendered":"Utah&#8217;s Governor Signs Nullification Legislation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Matt Hawes<\/p>\n<p>Our congratulations go out to Lowell Nelson and the entire Utah C4L for fighting to ensure SB 11, the Utah State-made Firearms Protection Act, made it to becoming law.<\/p>\n<p>SB 11 is yet another bill in a growing nullification movement.&nbsp; It would prevent federal laws and regulations from being enforced on guns and ammo manfuctured in Utah and staying within Utah.<\/p>\n<p>Though he has taken heat for signing the legislation, Governor Gary Herbert had the following to say last Friday:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;As Governor, I took an oath to uphold the constitutions of the United States and the State of Utah. I take that responsibility seriously, as well as my obligation to act in a fiscally prudent manner,&#8221; the Governor said. &#8220;In order to feel comfortable attaching my name to this legislation, I felt it necessary to reconcile the laudable intent of this bill with my responsibilities as Governor.&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am satisfied that Utah can stand confidently with other states that are taking a stand against the federal government&#8217;s overreach in this area,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The Attorney General has assured me that, should a legal challenge be filed against the state, his office can take a variety of actions to ensure the defense of this legislation will have a minimal cost to the people of Utah,&#8221; Governor Herbert said&#8230;.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utah.gov\/governor\/news_media\/article.html?article=2990\" >Read the rest.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Matt Hawes Our congratulations go out to Lowell Nelson and the entire Utah C4L for fighting to ensure SB 11, the Utah State-made Firearms Protection Act, made it to becoming law.
