Yesterday First Lady Michelle Obama\u00a0 visited Brinkley Middle\u00a0& Pecan Park Elementary Schools, in Jacksonville, Mississippi,\u00a0as part of her Let’s Move<\/a>! campaign to reduce childhood obesity in a generation and promote healthy eating.\u00a0Mrs Obama\u00a0was greeted by loud cheers and applause. This is truly a non-partisan issue that requires all who love children to make healthy changes.<\/p>\n

As Mom-In-Chief Michelle Obama knows that there are times that you must motivate by encouraging positive behavior and she did exactly that when she visited the\u00a0 schools. Brinkley & Pecan\u00a0Park are considered to be\u00a0models for exercise and healthy eating. The schools curriculum’s have incorporated teaching about healthy lifestyles to change behavior.<\/p>\n

FLOTUS\u00a0was joined by Governor & First Lady Barbour of Mississippi who have been engaged in a\u00a0\u201cLet\u2019s Go Walking\u201d campaign to encourage exercise in the state. According to statistics, Mississippi is the most obese state in the Nation and\u00a0the state government has been working to reduce the rates of obesity.<\/p>\n

The First Mom\u00a0has an amazing ability to connect\u00a0with children by asking for their help to make healthy choices.\u00a0She encouraged the children in attendance\u00a0to make better choices, such as less television watching and more activity. FLOTUS also highlighted new sidewalks that the Mayor of\u00a0 Jacksonville had installed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The goal is ambitious but can be achieved\u00a0in a generation, which Mrs Obama says\u00a0can be done when everyone gets involved, including\u00a0parents, nutritionists, governors and mayors. This may very well be\u00a0a shining\u00a0example of\u00a0how government, parents, and communities can work together.\u00a0<\/p>\n
