When FoMoCo unveiled the new 2011 Ford Mustang at the 2009 LA Auto Show in Dec. 2009, it walked around with pride saying that its new 3.7L V6 Ti-VCT would make 305-hp and 30 mpg on the highway, one-upping the 2010 Camaro\u2019s 304-hp and 29 mpg rating.<\/p>\n

Well, this morning FoMoCo is just that more proud. The 2011 Ford Mustang\u2019s official EPA ratings certify that models equipped with the 305-hp 3.7L V6 and optional 6-speed automatic transmission achieve 31 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city. The standard 6-speed manual transmission is rated at 30 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.<\/p>\n

Not only does that make the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 the most fuel-efficient Mustang ever, but also the first production car in history to produce more than 300-hp with more than 30 mpg highway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Mustang engineering team aimed high and, through hard work, achieved fuel economy numbers that elevate Mustang into a class by itself,\u201d said Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development.<\/p>\n

Ford announced last week that it has received nearly 11,000 orders for the 2011 Mustang and that half of the nationwide orders have been made for the 305-hp 3.7L V6 engine option.<\/p>\n
