{"id":388078,"date":"2010-03-04T10:00:12","date_gmt":"2010-03-04T15:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.harvard.edu\/gazette\/?p=39244"},"modified":"2010-03-04T10:00:12","modified_gmt":"2010-03-04T15:00:12","slug":"undefeated-and-national-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/388078","title":{"rendered":"Undefeated, and national champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"_mcePaste\">\n<p>Perfection is never easy to achieve, but the No. 1-ranked <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gocrimson.com\/sports\/wsquash\/index\">Harvard women\u2019s squash team<\/a> surely made it look that way.<\/p>\n<p>After decimating No. 8 Williams on Feb. 26, 9-0, in the opening round of the College Squash Association\u2019s (CSA) Team Championships at Yale, and then pounding No. 5 Yale, 7-2, on Feb. 27 in the semifinal match, the Crimson cruised to perfection in the championship final with a 6-3 victory over No. 3 Penn. The Crimson complete the season with an undefeated 11-0 record.<\/p>\n<p>The championship is the Crimson\u2019s 12th in program history, and their first since 2001. It is also the first national team championship at Harvard since 2006 (in fencing).<\/p>\n<p>Last February, the Crimson fell to back-to-back champion Princeton in the national title game, 5-4.<\/p>\n<p>In the win, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gocrimson.com\/sports\/wsquash\/2009-10\/bios\/gemmell_laura\">Laura Gemmell<\/a> &#8216;13, who won in three straight sets, improved to 11-0 on the year and has taken over the top spot in the country.
