\"\"id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444624132715139970\"<\/a>In this video (posted on Breitbart)<\/a> from 2005 Obama condemns the practice of Reconciliation Use (the nuclear option) as \u201cAbsolute Power\u201d and \u201cNot What the Founders Intended.\u201d <\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see if the MSM calls Obama on quotes like this one:
\u201cYou know, the Founders designed this system, as frustrating it is, to make sure that there’s a broad consensus before the country moves forward.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With that quote in mind, here’s an interesting little tidbit…a battle of academia if you will. One of tomorrow’s WashPo OpEds (in defense of Obama’s nuclear option) contains this gem:<\/p>\n

“But the Founders said nothing in the Constitution about the filibuster, let alone “reconciliation.” Judging from what they put in the actual document, the Founders would be appalled at the idea that every major bill should need the votes of three-fifths of the Senate to pass.”<\/span> (source<\/a>)<\/p>\n

The author was chastising Orin Hatch’s evocation of the Founders…I guess he hadn’t seen the video of Obama doing the same just 5 short years ago.<\/p>\n

The there’s Harry Reid and juxtaposed with his recent “Stop crying” comment to Republicans, also in 2005 he said,<\/p>\n

“The right to extend a debate is never more important than when one party controls both Congress and the White House. The filibuster serves as a check, on power, preserve our limited government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then there was VP Joe Biden (also known as the gift that never stops giving) with this one, “[T]his nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power\u2026it is a fundamental power grab\u201d and in the course of a prayer said “I pray God when the Democrats take back control we don\u2019t make the kind of naked power grab you are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

But remember, this wasn’t over a major shift in the American system–this was attempting to push through stalled judicial nominees. Almost every Democrat that is now advocating the use of the nuclear option is on record railing against it. Harry Reid even went so far as to post a passionate argument against the use of reconciliation on his Senate website<\/a>. <---Amazing he can look people in the face with this so easily accessible!\n\nBelieve it or not, there are a few MSM outlets writing about the glaring discrepancy <\/a>, even if the majority are defending it<\/a> to the death.<\/p>\n
