{"id":388579,"date":"2010-03-04T12:11:18","date_gmt":"2010-03-04T17:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/washingtonindependent.com\/?p=78347"},"modified":"2010-03-04T12:11:18","modified_gmt":"2010-03-04T17:11:18","slug":"%e2%80%98i-am-leading-a-war-against-the-british-empire%e2%80%99","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/388579","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I Am Leading a War Against the British Empire\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s mostly gallows humor to be had in the campaign of Kesha Rogers, a member of the amazingly resilient Lyndon LaRouche cult who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/bensmith\/0310\/Not_targeting_TX22.html\">snuck past two mainstream Democrats<\/a> to grab the party&#8217;s nomination in TX-22. LaRouche candidates do this from time to time, and they do it surprisingly frequently in the South &#8212; the 2004 <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.redstate.com\/story\/2005\/6\/20\/16711\/2918\">nominee<\/a> against Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) was a LaRouche cultist. The problem? The sorry state of some local Democratic organizations, who&#8217;ve fallen far from the days of one-party rule and can&#8217;t find serious candidates to beat the well-organized kooks. (If you want a Texas Democrat to groan, mention the name of Gene Kelley, a deranged lawyer who waged vanity campaign after vanity campaign in Texas counting on voters to mistake him for the late dancer.)<span id=\"more-78347\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>But what amuses me about this race is how the LaRouche cult&#8217;s semi-coherent ad hominem attacks on President Obama are being packaged as &#8230; an Obama campaign lookalike.
