About 2 months ago, we reported that BMW will launch a new lease program for its ActiveE electric-car<\/a>, similar to what it has done with the Mini E electric-Cooper. We now have more details on the lease program thanks to the company\u2019s board member for sales and marketing Ian Robertson.<\/p>\n

Robertson says that a total off 700 units of the all-electric 1-Series ActiveE will be leased to customers residing in major cities around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fleet will be between 600 to 700 units, about 200 units for the United States and about 300 to 400 in Europe in large metropolitan areas such as Berlin, Paris and London,\u201d Robertson told Automotive News<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n

The program is scheduled to launch over the next year.<\/p>\n

Refresher: The BMW ActiveE is powered by a synchronous electric-motor making 170-hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. A full charge takes about 4.5 hours allowing a driving range of 100 miles.<\/p>\n
