The company has filed a US <a href=\"http:\/\/appft.uspto.gov\/netacgi\/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&#038;Sect2=HITOFF&#038;p=1&#038;u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&#038;r=1&#038;f=G&#038;l=50&#038;co1=AND&#038;d=PG01&#038;s1=20100045241.PGNR.&#038;OS=DN\/20100045241&#038;RS=DN\/20100045241\">patent<\/a> last week for a handset that recharges itself by harvesting energy from the owner\u2019s motion. The cellphone that features built-in piezoelectric generators will be able to convert kinetic energy into usable electricity using onboard piezoelectric crystals.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The phone will have all the heavier components, such as the radio transmitter circuit and battery, supported on a sturdy frame. The frame will be able to move along two sets of rails. Piezoelectric crystals sit on the end of each rail and generate a current whenever the cellphone is moved.
