{"id":39625,"date":"2009-11-10T16:27:17","date_gmt":"2009-11-10T21:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"52432 at http:\/\/www.webpronews.com"},"modified":"2009-11-10T16:27:17","modified_gmt":"2009-11-10T21:27:17","slug":"spam-is-getting-more-malicious","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/39625","title":{"rendered":"Spam is Getting More Malicious"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.symantec.com\">Symantec<\/a> has released two new reports for the month of November &#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/eval.symantec.com\/mktginfo\/enterprise\/other_resources\/b-state_of_spam_report_11-2009.en-us.pdf\">State of Spam<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/eval.symantec.com\/mktginfo\/enterprise\/other_resources\/b-state_of_phishing_report_11-2009.en-us.pdf\">State of Phishing<\/a> (both PDFs). The reports highlight a dramatic increase in spam that contains malware. On top of that, junk and malicious email now accounts for close to 9 out of 10 email messages. <\/p>\n<p>The security firm says that a new generation of &quot;Spam Princes&quot; are rising, and that the Asia Pacific region, Japan, and South America have surpassed North America, with regards to where spam is originating from. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;Rising spam levels originating from South America, Asia Pacific and Japan are not altogether surprising when you consider the massive growth of internet connections in these regions,&quot; says Amanda Grady, Principal Analyst, Symantec. &quot;Meanwhile, the increased threats to social networking websites is interesting because it shows spammers are hiding behind the reputation and brand trust built by legitimate companies. Social networking sites that have a large user base will continue to be targets of malicious and phishing emails.&quot;<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"98\" align=\"right\" width=\"100\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"Virus Detected\" alt=\"Virus Detected\" src=\"http:\/\/images.ientrymail.com\/webpronews\/article_pics\/virus-detected.jpg\" \/>Symantec shares the following findings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8211; In October, an average of 1.9% of all spam messages contained malware.
