{"id":396343,"date":"2010-03-06T04:39:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-06T09:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-3614958551585906605"},"modified":"2010-03-06T06:39:28","modified_gmt":"2010-03-06T11:39:28","slug":"update-on-grand-egyptian-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/396343","title":{"rendered":"Update on Grand Egyptian Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/enr.ecnext.com\/coms2\/article_bude100303EgyptMuseum\">EMR.com<\/a> (Peter Reina)<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Six years after design began and one year after it was completed, Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Culture is almost ready to start construction of the $550-million main building of the Grand Egyptian Museum, near Cairo.<\/p>\n<p>Having secured a $390-million soft loan from Japan, the ministry last month appointed a team of Hill International Inc., Marlton, N.J., and EHAF Consulting Engineer, Cairo, to manage construction of the main building\u2019s core, shell and fit out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are hoping to get to the tender stage in the next 90-120 days,\u201d and expect international contractors to bid, says Raouf S. Ghali, president of Hill\u2019s Project Management Group (International). \u201cThe ministry is looking for the highest caliber,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s lengthy gestation is nothing compared to the antiquity of the ancient artifacts to be housed in the 500-hectare complex with 24-meter-high ceilings, partially buried in desert sand at the great pyramids of Giza.
