That&#8217;s at least what clean energy-focused investment fund US Renewables Group (USRG) thinks. Today the firm launched Westerly Wind, a new venture\u00a0that will\u00a0provide financing to wind developers that are having a hard time raising capital.  <span id=\"more-6845\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a released <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pehub.com\/?p=65538\" >posted on PeHUB<\/a> Lee Bailey, managing director of USRG, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The recent financial crisis has led to a shortage of development capital and, as a result, many promising wind development projects are not being adequately funded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To lead its new funding unit USRG has taped Joe Cofelice, the former CEO of American National Power. He was also president of Catamount Energy, the Vermont-based wind developer <a href=\"http:\/\/charlotte.bizjournals.com\/charlotte\/stories\/2008\/06\/23\/daily35.html\" >acquired in 2008 by Duke Energy for $240 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>USRG has mobilized over $750 million of capital commitments to invest in renewable energy projects since it launched in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve called USRG to get some more details on exactly how much capital it\u2019s invested in Westerly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/GreenEnergyReporter\/~4\/Ii_t5yA8-dI\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opportunity abounds, even in this difficult credit environment.
