{"id":403578,"date":"2010-03-08T11:36:05","date_gmt":"2010-03-08T16:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.szone.us\/f86\/study-vitamin-d-supplementation-improves-mood-winter-months-40511\/"},"modified":"2010-03-08T11:36:05","modified_gmt":"2010-03-08T16:36:05","slug":"study-vitamin-d-supplementation-improves-mood-in-the-wintermonths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/403578","title":{"rendered":"Study: Vitamin D Supplementation Improves Mood In The Winter*Months"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>03.07.10 07:01 PM<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pictures.directnews.co.uk\/liveimages\/SIDEWAYS+ONLY+-+Vitamins_1961_19651924_0_0_7036254_300.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/>According to a recent study, a daily dose of vitamin D may help people in northern climates better combat the long winter. <\/p>\n<p>Researchers from Loyola University&#8217;s Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing (MNSON) found that the nutrient can help lift mood during the winter months when days are short and access to sunlight is at a premium. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;Vitamin D deficiency continues to be a problem despite the nutrient&#8217;s widely reported health benefits,&quot; said Sue Penckofer, professor at MNSON. &quot;[Northern] winters compound this issue when more people spend time away from sunlight, which is a natural source of vitamin D.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Loyola researchers plan to take their vitamin D study a step further by assessing whether supplementation with the nutrient can improve blood sugar and mood in women suffering from diabetes.
