{"id":404018,"date":"2010-03-08T14:19:40","date_gmt":"2010-03-08T19:19:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com\/?p=13462"},"modified":"2010-03-08T14:19:40","modified_gmt":"2010-03-08T19:19:40","slug":"parents-discuss-textbook-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/404018","title":{"rendered":"Parents Discuss Textbook Concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is a battle brewing over textbooks in Texas, and what happens in the Lone Star state may have a direct impact on what children all over the country learn about America\u2019s heritage and basic science.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because Texas is one of the world\u2019s top textbook buyers.<\/p>\n<p>Publishers draft their materials to meet Texas curriculum guidelines in an effort to sell millions of textbooks there.<\/p>\n<p>Those same books are sold to school systems nationwide. This week, the Texas State Board of Education will vote on a number of suggested curriculum changes.<\/p>\n<p>I talked with a panel of parents from\u00a0Maryland and Virginia\u00a0about some of their concerns about what\u2019s happening in school curriculum and textbooks today.
