<\/a>Alcatraz was designed to be impossible to escape from by being out on an island in San Francisco Bay. And this vertical prison<\/a> concept has the same idea: if you want to escape, it’s a long way down.<\/p>\n

The design, which was the winner of Evolvo Magazine’s 2010 skyscraper competition<\/a>, probably won’t be built anytime soon. But it’s still interesting! It would use “pods” to transport people and equipment up to the top levels where everyone is, which is fun. And really, even if this just stays a concept, it might just inspire some filmmakers to include it in a sci-fi movie, which is almost better than it becoming a real prison.
