Now it appears he\u2019s also <a  href=\"http:\/\/everythingwarrenbuffett.blogspot.com\/2010\/03\/wine-and-spirits-daily-more-on-buffett.html\">considering a deal with Warren Buffett<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kahn is co-owner of <a  href=\"http:\/\/www.empiredist.com\/\">Empire Distributors<\/a> Inc., soon to be acquired by a subsidiary of Buffett\u2019s Berkshire Hathaway, according to <em>Wine &amp; Spirits Daily<\/em>. Kahn and his brother, David, own Empire Distributors, a wine and spirits distribution company founded by their grandfather in 1940. David Kahn is president of Empire Georgia, based in Atlanta, while Michael is president of Empire North Carolina in Charlotte.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Kahn told the <em>Charlotte Business Journal <\/em>this morning &#8220;the reports are very premature&#8221; and deferred additional comment until later this month.<\/p>\n<p>The Buffett-Berkshire subsidiary in line to buy Empire is <a  href=\"http:\/\/www.mclaneco.com\/wps\/portal\/McLane\/AboutUs\/?New_WCM_Context=\/wps\/wcm\/connect\/McLaneCo\/mclaneco\/About+Us\/\">food supplier McLane<\/a>, a $34 billion company Berkshire Hathaway acquired from Wal-Mart for $1.5 billion in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>Kahn bought the Checkers minor-league hockey franchise in 2006 from Felix Sabates. Last month, he purchased an American Hockey League franchise in Albany, N.Y., and relocated the club here so the Checkers could become AHL members, minor-league hockey\u2019s highest designation.
