{"id":409515,"date":"2010-03-09T16:49:41","date_gmt":"2010-03-09T21:49:41","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef01310f82adff970c"},"modified":"2010-03-09T16:49:41","modified_gmt":"2010-03-09T21:49:41","slug":"natures-variety-pet-food-recall-expands-over-salmonella-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/409515","title":{"rendered":"Nature&#8217;s Variety pet food recall expands over salmonella concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LINCOLN, Neb. \u2014 Nature&#8217;s Variety has expanded its recall of chicken-flavored pet food because of concerns over salmonella.<\/p>\n<p>The Lincoln, Neb.-based company said Monday that the raw, frozen food is being recalled because it could be contaminated with salmonella.<\/p>\n<p>The recall includes three-pound packages of chicken medallions, six-pound packages of chicken patties and two-pound packages of chicken chubs.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the company recalled only packages with a best-by date of Nov. 10, 2010. Now packages with best-by dates of Oct. 29 and Nov. 9, 2010, are also being recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
