Another tragic loss for Hollywood: Former ’80s teen heartthrob Corey Haim (December 23, 1971 – March 10, 2010) has died. Police in Los Angeles found the actor unresponsive in his Oakwood, Los Angeles apartment at approximately 3:30 AM Wednesday morning, FOX News L.A.<\/a> reports. His mother was with him when police arrived. <\/p>\n

Haim, who shot to fame in the ’80s with roles in teen hits like The Lost Boys<\/em> and License To Drive<\/em>, had a long history of substance abuse issues and is believed to have succumbed to an accidental drug overdose. <\/p>\n

“It was an apparent overdose,”<\/em> says Sgt. Frank Albarren of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Station. “Unknown what type of medication.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Haim was pronounced dead just before 4 AM at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank. He was 38.<\/p>\n

His first role was in the 1984 hit Firstborn<\/em>, in which he played a young child caught up in a family war. He then appeared in the 1985 TV movie A Time to Live<\/em>. Haim often starred alongside best friend Corey Feldman, and the duo became known as \u201cThe Two Coreys.\u201d Corey H. appeared in many movies between 1987 and 1990; such as Lucas: Murphy\u2019s Romance<\/em>, The Lost Boys<\/em>, Dream a Little Dream<\/em>, and more. Most recently, Corey Haim starred alongside Carey Feldman in the reality show The Two Coreys,<\/em> which aired from 2007 to 2008 on A&E.<\/p>\n
