Generation Xers and Hollywood stars are mourning the death of Corey Haim. The ’80s teen idols died after collapsing in his suburban Los Angeles apartment early Wednesday.<\/p>\n

An autopsy will determine the cause of death, but police and coroner’s officials tell Entertainment Tonight<\/em> that Haim was violently ill with flu-like symptoms and taking prescription medications before his death. <\/p>\n

“He could have succumbed to whatever (illness) he had or it could have been drugs. Who knows?”<\/em> Los Angeles Police sergeant William Mann said. “He has had a drug problem in the past.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Corey’s mom, Judy Haim, told RadarOnline.com in an interview this morning that she is battling cancer and “devastated” by the loss of her 38-year-old son: “I am a cancer victim and Corey was helping me at home. He was a good boy. I’m devastated by his death.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Haim, 38, was made famous in a string of 1980s films including The Lost Boys<\/em>, with Corey Feldman. Haim struggled with drug addiction for some time.<\/p>\n
