If they do health care through reconciliation, it will be the same consequence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>GlueHorse <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2010\/02\/26\/sen_mccain_reconciliation_will_have_cataclysmic_effects.html\">McCain<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class='wbq'>\n<p>&#8220;To go to the 51 votes, instead of this traditional 60 in the United States Senate, will have cataclysmic effects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>John Thune promises <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/archives\/individual\/2009_04\/017874.php\">flying fur<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class='wbq'>\n<p>&#8220;If they go down that road, I think the fur is going to fly,&#8221; Senate Republican Conference Vice Chairman John Thune (S.D.) said. &#8220;I suspect that there is going to be an awful lot of resistance, and we will exercise our prerogatives so that the rules of the Senate are respected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Judd Gregg (who you&#8217;ll note is identified in the approved Village manner as Obama&#8217;s first choice as Commerce Secretary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2009\/03\/17\/AR2009031703798.html\">in this WaPo segment<\/a>)&#8230;<span id=\"more-72155\"><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class='wbq'>\n<p>\u201cThat would be the Chicago approach to governing: Strong-arm it through,\u201d said Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), who briefly considered joining the Obama administration as commerce secretary. \u201cYou\u2019re talking about the exact opposite of bipartisan. You\u2019re talking about running over the minority, putting them in cement and throwing them in the Chicago River<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>All this dire Senate dysfunction!  Imagine the United States Senate thrown off its smoothly running processes!
