A <a href=\"http:\/\/commutebybike.com\/2010\/03\/10\/google-maps-now-has-biking\/\">commute by bike announcement<\/a> references a user map I didn&#8217;t know about &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/gadgets\/directory?synd=mpl&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=en&amp;url=http:\/\/mnbikemaps.googlepages.com\/TCBikeMapplet.xml\">James Nordgaard&#8217;s Twin Cities bike map<\/a>. (I hadn&#8217;t visited the <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/gadgets\/directory?synd=mpl&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=&amp;q=\">map gadgets page<\/a> for a while, it&#8217;s worth a look.)<\/p>\n<p>Google also offers a &quot;<a href=\"http:\/\/aht7hjsu8d8du5dgd917aohtlkinfcj7.open.gmodules.com\/ig\/creator?synd=open&amp;url=http:\/\/hosting.gmodules.com\/ig\/gadgets\/file\/114281111391296844949\/driving-directions.xml&amp;brand=light&amp;up_defaultDirectionsType=b\">biking directions gadget<\/a>&quot; that can be embedded in a web page.<\/p>\n<p>Independently, the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.msptrails.org\/2009\/06\/cyclopathorg-geowiki-for-twin-cities.html\">MSP Cyclopath.org GeoWiki<\/a> has been developing very nicely over the past year and now has excellent coverage. I&#8217;m hopeful Google will be able to harvest that work even as the GeoWiki benefits from the Google maps.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve long said that if you had only one question to ask about a community to live in, you should ask about the quality of the local bicycle paths. <a href=\"http:\/\/notes.kateva.org\/2008\/03\/twin-cities-is-great-place-to-live-bike.html\">Minneapolis St. Paul does very well<\/a> with that question.<\/p>\n<p>Now we need to work on a map that shows what bicycle paths are suitable for inline skating!<\/p>\n<p>See also: <a href=\"http:\/\/googlemapsbikethere.org\/2009\/11\/19\/submit-your-bike-data-to-google\/\">Google Maps \u2018Bike There\u2019 | Submit your bike data to Google<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>PS.
