We&#8217;ll take entries all the way up until 2 p.m. on St. Patrick&#8217;s Day (3\/17) and announce a winner at 3 p.m. (Just in time for the winners to start their holiday with a pint or two of Guiness and some Shepherd&#8217;s Pie).<\/p>\n<p>For the layperson,\u00a0a standard\u00a0limerick is a five-line poem (usually funny, or at least attempting to be) where Lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme and contain 7-10 syllables and\u00a0Lines 3 and 4 also rhyme but are a tad shorter in length, usually 5-6 syllables.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example thrown\u00a0together a few minutes ago:<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2122\" title=\"St-Patrick-s-Day\" src=\"http:\/\/www.downtownphoenix.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/St-Patrick-s-Day2.jpg\" alt=\"St-Patrick-s-Day\" width=\"122\" height=\"175\" \/>There once was a man from Phoenix<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Who couldn&#8217;t ever find his own Kleenex<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His wife called him a louse<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When he sneezed in her blouse<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In the garbage sits the garment in a helix<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Lame?
