{"id":419639,"date":"2010-03-12T05:45:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-12T10:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087194156628161158.post-8377650850248951061"},"modified":"2010-03-12T05:48:05","modified_gmt":"2010-03-12T10:48:05","slug":"reuters-gmac-hires-goldman-to-start-rescap-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/419639","title":{"rendered":"REUTERS: GMAC hires Goldman to start ResCap sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- AddThis Button BEGIN --><span id=\"articleText\"><span class=\"focusParagraph\"><\/p>\n<p> March 12 (Reuters) &#8211; GMAC Financial Services (<span id=\"symbol_GKM.N_0\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/finance\/stocks\/overview?symbol=GKM.N\">GKM.N<\/a><\/span>) has engaged Goldman Sachs to start the sale of its troubled mortgage unit Residential Captial (ResCap), the New York Post said.<\/p>\n<p>  <\/span> <span id=\"midArticle_0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p> It was likely that billionaire investor Warren Buffett might step in to buy ResCap, the Post said.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p> Buffett owns a sizable chunk of ResCap&#8217;s debt and has been interested for months in buying the lender, according to the paper. In December, the paper said Buffett was in talks to buy ResCap.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_2\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p> The Congressional Oversight Panel, in a new monthly report, said despite three separate bailouts totaling $17.2 billion GMAC Financial Services continues to struggle with its troubled mortgage liabilities.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_3\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p> GMAC, one of the largest car loan companies in the United States, said in January it expected to sell some mortgages from ResCap to third-party investors.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"midArticle_4\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p> GMAC was not available for comment.
