{"id":423745,"date":"2010-03-13T01:01:24","date_gmt":"2010-03-13T06:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef01310f96cd8b970c"},"modified":"2010-03-13T01:01:24","modified_gmt":"2010-03-13T06:01:24","slug":"protesters-succeed-in-ousting-5-paroled-sex-offenders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/423745","title":{"rendered":"Protesters succeed in ousting 5 paroled sex offenders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five paroled sex offenders staying at a Huntington Beach hotel have agreed to move out following an outcry from nearby homeowners who criticized authorities and hotel operators for housing them there. <\/p>\n<p>Three of the parolees had relocated by Friday evening, a spokesman for Extended Stay America said. \u201cThe remaining two will be relocated once the crowd disperses and it&#8217;s safe for them to leave the property,\u201d said Tony Knight of Sitrick and Co., a crisis management firm working with the hotel chain. <\/p>\n<p>Residents said they became aware of the sex offenders\u2019 presence a week ago when Huntington Beach police distributed fliers listing the parolees\u2019 names and photos at the hotel\u2019s lobby at 5050 Skylab Road.<\/p>\n<p> The resulting publicity included a live broadcast by talk show hosts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kfiam640.com\/pages\/jk2010.html\">John and Ken<\/a> on KFI-AM (640) from outside the hotel Friday. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Knight said relocation of the five parolees was delayed by a requirement that any move had to be approved by state parole officials.
