{"id":424046,"date":"2010-03-13T13:10:48","date_gmt":"2010-03-13T18:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"tag:www.vegan-food.net:\/\/d824dcc17466e765e633bc09635485bb"},"modified":"2010-03-13T13:10:48","modified_gmt":"2010-03-13T18:10:48","slug":"lentils-creole-legumes-lentil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/424046","title":{"rendered":"Lentils Creole( Legumes &#8211; Lentil )"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Daily Random Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul><UL><br \/>\n<LI>1 cup dried lentils<br \/>\n<LI>2 t salt<br \/>\n<LI>2 T margarine<br \/>\n<LI>1 onion, chopped<br \/>\n<LI>2 green bell peppers, chopped<br \/>\n<LI>2 cups canned tomatoes<br \/>\n<LI>1\/4 t black pepper<br \/>\n<LI>1 t sugar<br \/>\n<\/UL><\/ul>\n<p \/><strong>METHOD:<\/strong><br \/>Cover lentils and salt with water; bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer 1 hour or until tender; drain.<br \/>\n\t<P>Melt margarine, saut\u00e9 onion and bell pepper until onion begins to brown. Add cooked lentils and remaining ingredients, bring to simmer, cook (covered) 30 to 40 minutes.<br \/>\n\t<P>Serve over rice or noodles. <\/p>\n<p \/><strong>NOTES:<\/strong><br \/><i>Modifications: <\/i><br \/>\n\t<P>I find the initial 1 hour cooking of the lentils to be too long; half an hour is fine, since they cook another 30 or 40 minutes with the other ingredients. Also, I use more pepper than the recipe calls for, and less sugar. A little sugar is an old trick for preventing dishes with cooked tomatoes from getting too sour tasting, but 1\/4 teaspoonful will do the trick for this dish.<\/p>\n<p>Source: &#8216;The All-American Bean Book&#8217;, by F.
