The pound weakened after Moody&rsquo;s Investor Service said the U.K. is close to losing its top credit rating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/quote?ticker=MXAP%3AIND\">MSCI Asia Pacific Index<\/a> slid 0.4 percent to 122.70 as of 5 p.m. in Tokyo, as the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite sank to a five-week low. The pound fell against 15 of 16 major counterparts after Moody&rsquo;s Managing Director <a href=\"http:\/\/search.bloomberg.com\/search?q=Pierre+Cailleteau&amp;site=wnews&amp;client=wnews&amp;proxystylesheet=wnews&amp;output=xml_no_dtd&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;filter=p&amp;getfields=wnnis&amp;sort=date:D:S:d1\">Pierre Cailleteau<\/a> said the U.K. and U.S. have moved closer to losing their AAA ratings. Futures on the Standard &amp; Poor&rsquo;s 500 fell 0.4 percent.
