It’s Splitsville for Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet and her director hubby Sam Mendes. The couple are calling it quits after nearly seven years of marriage. <\/p>\n

Lawyers for the Oscar-winning actress, 34, confirmed the news Monday, calling the decision “by mutual agreement” and adding that it was “entirely amicable.” <\/span><\/p>\n

Kate and Sam, 44, began dating after the actress split from director Jim Threapleton in 2001. She married Mendes on May 24, 2003 on the island on Anguilla in the Caribbean. They welcomed a child later that year; Sam and Kate’s only son, Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes, was born in New York on Dec. 22.<\/p>\n

“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year,” <\/em>their lawyers said in a statement today. “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”
