Dreier: There\u2019s Nothing GOP Can Do to Block Dems\u2019 Procedural Move on Health Reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For all the <a href=\"http:\/\/republicanwhip.house.gov\/newsroom\/2010\/03\/cantor-direct-yesno-vote-on-senate-health-care-bill-needed.html\" >criticisms<\/a> Republicans are lobbing at the House Democrats&#8217; plan to pass the Senate health care reform bill without actually passing the Senate reform bill, even the senior Republican on the House Rules Committee conceded today that there&#8217;s nothing the GOP can do to block the move, Roll Call <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollcall.com\/news\/44188-1.html?referrer=bk\" >reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing that can prevent it,\u201d said Rep. David Dreier (R-Calif.), the ranking member of the Rules Committee. \u201cIt\u2019s something they can clearly do if they have the votes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"more-79294\"><\/span>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicated earlier today that she hopes to use a procedural move allowing House Democrats to pass a series of health reform &#8220;fixes&#8221; as part of a reconciliation bill, and in doing so &#8220;deem&#8221; the much larger Senate bill to be passed simultaneously.
