American Jews are right to worry about Barack Obama\u2019s hostility to Israel, and weakness to its enemies.\u00a0 As the American Israel Public Affairs Committee puts it:<\/p>\n

The Administration should make a conscious effort to move away from public demands and unilateral deadlines directed at Israel<\/a>, with whom the United States shares basic, fundamental, and strategic interests. The escalated rhetoric of recent days only serves as a distraction from the substantive work that needs to be done with regard to the urgent issue of Iran\u2019s rapid pursuit of nuclear weapons, and the pursuit of peace between Israel and all her Arab neighbors. <\/em><\/p>\n

We strongly urge the Administration to work closely and privately with our partner Israel, in a manner befitting strategic allies, to address any issues between the two governments.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I understand from excellent sources that Israel is also alarmed by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd\u2019s increasingly hostile comments (especially these<\/a>) and policies<\/a>, and major Labor donors among the Jewish Left are finding it much harder to reach for their wallets.<\/p>\n
