{"id":432498,"date":"2010-03-15T23:01:11","date_gmt":"2010-03-16T03:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.personalliberty.com\/liberty\/can-seaweed-help-fight-lymphoma\/"},"modified":"2010-03-15T23:01:11","modified_gmt":"2010-03-16T03:01:11","slug":"can-seaweed-help-fight-lymphoma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/432498","title":{"rendered":"Can Seaweed Help Fight Lymphoma?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pictures.directnews.co.uk\/liveimages\/Seaweed_1961_19664944_0_0_4454_300.jpg\" alt=\"Can seaweed help fight lymphoma?\" align=\"right\" class=\"post_image\">Seaweed extract may one day have the potential to treat the immune system cancer known as non-Hodgkin&#8217;s lymphoma, a new report has suggested. <\/p>\n<p>In the study, lead researcher Mohammad Irhimeh, an assistant professor of oncology and stem cells at the Hashemite University in Jordan, and his colleagues experimented with a seaweed compound called fucoidan, which has been reported to fight tumors in mice and in some cell lines, according to the researchers. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;Some forms of B-cell lymphoma are especially resistant to standard treatment and thus new therapies are needed,&quot; said Irhimeh, quoted by <em>Health Day News<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>After testing human lymphoma cells with fucoidan, which is sold commercially, the researchers found that it inhibited growth of cancerous cells while not affecting healthy tissue.
