Two government<\/a> advertisements which use nursery rhymes to warn of the dangers of climate change<\/a> have been banned for exaggerating the threat.<\/p>\n

Commissioned by Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, the adverts are based on children\u2019s poems Jack and Jill and Rub-A-Dub-Dub and assert that climate change<\/a> will cause flooding and drought.<\/p>\n

The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) ruled the adverts \u2013 which attracted 939 complaints \u2013 made exaggerated claims which went beyond mainstream scientific consensus.<\/p>\n

\"Banned:<\/div>\n

One advert read: \u2018Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. There was none as extreme weather due to climate change<\/a> had caused a drought.\u2019<\/p>\n

Beneath this was written: \u2018Extreme weather conditions such as flooding, heat waves and storms will become more frequent and intense.\u2019<\/p>\n

The other read: \u2018Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub \u2013 a necessary course of action due to flash flooding caused by climate change<\/a>.\u2019
