{"id":433433,"date":"2010-03-16T01:00:12","date_gmt":"2010-03-16T05:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef01310fa656db970c"},"modified":"2010-03-16T01:01:20","modified_gmt":"2010-03-16T05:01:20","slug":"big-jump-in-number-of-californians-without-health-insurance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/433433","title":{"rendered":"Big jump in number of Californians without health insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/media\/graphic\/2010-03\/52757607.gif\" style=\"margin: 5px; float: left; width: 212px; height: 378px;\"><\/img>The number of Californians without health insurance jumped to\u00a0 8.2 million in 2009, up from<br \/>\n6.4 million in 2007, according to\u00a0 UCLA&#8217;s Center for Health Policy Research.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 1 in 4 Californians under age 65 had no health insurance last<br \/>\nyear, the report found, as soaring unemployment propelled vast<br \/>\nnumbers of once-covered workers into the ranks of the uninsured.<\/p>\n<p>People who were uninsured for part or all of 2009 accounted for 24.3%<br \/>\nof California&#8217;s population under age 65 &#8212; a dramatic increase from<br \/>\n2007 driven largely by Californians who lost employer-sponsored health<br \/>\ninsurance, particularly over the last year.<br \/><\/br><br \/>\n<br \/><\/br> Among those over age 18, nearly 1 in 3 had no insurance for all or<br \/>\npart of 2009, the UCLA researchers found. The ranks of uninsured<br \/>\nchildren also grew.
