Now that their scams have all been laid bare<\/a>, Democratic leadership has resorted to firing on their own troops and threatening to run them all out of office if they don\u2019t vote for the AHIP\/PhRMA bailout.<\/p>\n

So, it looks like it’s time to whip.<\/p>\n

Earl Blumenauer was one of 65 members of Congress who pledged to vote against any bill without a public option<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He’s now using twitter to deride anyone who keeps the pledge he made<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Health care homestretch. People need to use their “inner wonk,” not outsource analysis to idiot “shouting heads.” Facts are clear.<\/p>\n

Facts. . . yes, they are clear. How about this one?<\/p>\n

\"Blumenauer_E\"<\/a><\/p>\n

“Progressive only when it doesn’t matter” is Blumenauer’s schitck. In 2007, he signed a letter saying he’d vote against any war funding bill without troop withdrawal provisions<\/a>. But when the supplemental came up for a vote this year, and he was in a position to actually do something about it, he voted for it anyway<\/a>. Apparently ending the war is only something to be demagogued when Republicans are in office and there’s no hope of actually following through on your promises.<\/p>\n

Last year, the online community raised $430,000 in gratitude for members of Congress who pledged to vote against any bill without a public option. Earl Blumenauer received $3,230 of that.<\/p>\n

In our recent poll, 90% of our readers thought he should return the money if he doesn’t<\/a> intend to keep his word. And that 76% of those responding to another survey<\/a> (10,814) think that Democrats who go back on their pledge should be primaried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
