The mother of Oscar-nominated Precious<\/em> actress Gabourey Sidibe wants a spot on the next season of America’s Got Talent<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Alice Tan Ridley<\/a>, a former Off-Broadway powerhouse who now earns her dinner by belting out R&B and gospel hits three times a week at some of New York’s busiest subway stations, is hoping to find the stardom sampled by her 26-year-old daughter when she auditions for the NBC summer talent competition on March 20. <\/p>\n

Gabby won critical acclaim — and an Oscar nod — with her breakout role in controversial drama last fall. Now her mom wants a Hollywood Cinderella Story of her own.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I would not be entering the competition if I did not think I could do well. Singing is what I do and I know I can do this,\u201d<\/em> Alice told RadarOnline.com<\/a> this week. \u201cI haven\u2019t told Gabby yet, but I\u2019m sure she will support me just like I support her as a performer.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n
