Appliances that could qualify include:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zillow.com\/blog\/files\/2010\/03\/old-refrigerator.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-18694\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zillow.com\/blog\/files\/2010\/03\/old-refrigerator.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Boilers<\/li>\n<li>Central air conditioners<\/li>\n<li>Clothes washers<\/li>\n<li>Dishwashers<\/li>\n<li>Freezers<\/li>\n<li>Furnaces (oil and gas)<\/li>\n<li>Heat pumps (air source and geothermal)<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerators<\/li>\n<li>Room air conditioners<\/li>\n<li>Water heaters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When I saw this list, I wondered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energystar.gov\/index.cfm?c=clotheswash.pr_clothes_dryers\">&#8220;What about clothes dryers<\/a>?&#8221; Click on that link and you&#8217;ll see the answer. The biggest thing to watch out for is to make sure you purchase &#8220;a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energystar.gov\/index.cfm?c=products.pr_find_es_products\">qualifying ENERGY STAR-appliance<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even though the money comes from the federal government through the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www1.eere.energy.gov\/recovery\/\">American Recovery and Reinvestment Act<\/a>,&#8221; it will be handled on the state level and will run until 2012 or until states run out of money.
