The road is made from structurally engineered solar panels that are driven upon.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.instablogsimages.com\/images\/2010\/03\/17\/solar-roadways_2_GmdEd_69.jpg\" alt=\"solar roadways_2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The road panels contain LEDs for painting road lines from beneath the surface. Moreover, the system also includes a heating element to prevent snow\/ice accumulation in northern climates and a microprocessor board for control and communications.
