The headline figure is a decline of 0.6%, but that is mainly due to a 2.9% dip in the cost of energy, which won&#8217;t be sustained. Still, core producer prices moved forward at just a 0.1% pace. Pundits may <a href=\"http:\/\/delong.typepad.com\/sdj\/2010\/03\/michael-kinsley-cries-fire-fire-in-noahs-flood.html\">enjoy<\/a> wringing their hands over an imagined inflation threat, but for the moment, deflation seems as likely (which is why the Fed continues to commit itself to keeping rates low).
