Yesterday First Lady Michelle Obama took part in a question-and-answer discussion about the Let’s Move!<\/a> initiative and the fight against childhood obesity at the Newseum in Washington, DC. The Q&A,\u00a0sponsored by Newsweek Magazine,\u00a0was proceeded by Mrs. Obama’s speech<\/a> on Tuesday to the Grocery Manufacturers Association Conference. In her speech<\/a> she urged the nation’s food makers to produce and market healthier products.<\/p>\n

During the Q&A the First Lady rejected the idea of maligning snack foods and affixing government sanctioned warning labels to certain foods.<\/p>\n

“A Twinkie is not a cigarette, you know,” said Mrs Obama.”… what parents need is just information about what’s in the Twinkie and how much of this we can eat. It’s not that we can’t have a Twinkie. And our kids would be pretty upset. And I am not supporting that.”\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
