{"id":444007,"date":"2010-03-18T15:10:20","date_gmt":"2010-03-18T19:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef01310fb77adb970c"},"modified":"2010-03-18T15:08:55","modified_gmt":"2010-03-18T19:08:55","slug":"laguna-beach-firefighters-rescue-three-people-trapped-in-a-cove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/444007","title":{"rendered":"Laguna Beach firefighters rescue three people trapped in a cove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Laguna Beach fire fighters rescued three people who were trapped in a cove Wednesday as the sky darkened and the tide was rising.<\/p>\n<p>Two males and a female in their 20s walked into a cove known as Littleman\u2019s Cove around 6 p.m., said Jeff LaTendresse, deputy chief of the Laguna Beach Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>A high surf came in, and the trio discovered they could not get out of the cove the same way they came in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were scared,\u201d he said. \u201cThere was some pretty good surf last night. The tide kept coming and coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fire department was contacted around 9 p.m. and began a rope rescue operation, LaTendresse said. The three were loaded into stokes baskets and pulled 100 feet up a cliff using ladder trucks, he said. <\/p>\n<p>The tide reached 5 feet during the rescue operation, which took three hours, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the people were transported to a local hospital and treated for exposure. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe get our fair share of rescuing people several times a year,\u201d LaTendresse said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; My-Thuan Tran<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Laguna Beach fire fighters rescued three people who were trapped in a cove Wednesday as the sky darkened and the tide was rising.
