Calling all Gleeks! Glee<\/em> became an instant fan favorite after premiering on FOX last year — and we hear the hit series could be making the leap from the small screen to the stage. <\/p>\n

Music Theatre International (MTI), the company behind Broadway classics like Legally Blonde<\/em>, Hairspray<\/em>, and Fiddler on the Roof<\/em>, is in discussions to produce a stage musical based on the satirical television hit, Playbill.com<\/a> revealed on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“The Glee deal is in negotiations. We’re exploring a collaborative venture with Fox and Glee. We just think it’s a natural,” <\/em>MTI chairman Freddie Gershon told the site this afternoon.<\/p>\n

“We’ve had a tremendous amount of enthusiasm from our music partners. Certainly if these kids become stars in their own right, who knows? Live appearances. Albums. There’s lots of things that could happen,”<\/em>
\nFOX broadcasting President Kevin Reilly said when quizzed about a possible Glee<\/em> stage play last fall. <\/p>\n

In related news, FOX and Glee<\/em> co-creator Ryan Murphy are bringing the series to the stage in a concert tour this spring. Glee<\/em> stars will perform in a singing and dancing celebration of the Golden Globe Award-winning show beginning Wednesday, May 18 in Phoenix, Arizona. <\/p>\n

Glee<\/em> airs Wednesdays on FOX.<\/p>\n
