{"id":447145,"date":"2010-03-19T10:54:21","date_gmt":"2010-03-19T14:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/washingtonindependent.com\/?p=79724"},"modified":"2010-03-19T10:54:21","modified_gmt":"2010-03-19T14:54:21","slug":"is-sean-hannity%e2%80%99s-%e2%80%98freedom-concert%e2%80%99-series-skimping-on-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/447145","title":{"rendered":"Is Sean Hannity\u2019s \u2018Freedom Concert\u2019 Series Skimping on Charity?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Conservative blogger Debbie Schlussel follows a tip and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.debbieschlussel.com\/6938\/sean-hannitys-freedom-concert-scam-only-7-of-charitys-money-went-to-injured-troops-kids-of-fallen-troops-g5s-g6s-for-vannity\/\">finds enough problems <\/a>with Sean Hannity&#8217;s &#8220;Freedom Concerts&#8221; &#8212; star-studded events meant to pay for scholarships for the children of fallen soldiers &#8212; to dub them &#8220;scams.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>According to its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.debbieschlussel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/freedomalliancetaxes2006.pdf\" ><strong>2006 tax returns<\/strong><\/a>, Freedom Alliance reported revenue of $10,822,785, but only $397,900\u2013or a beyond-measly 3.68%\u2013of that was given to the children of fallen troops as scholarships or as aid to severely injured soldiers.<span id=\"more-79724\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, 62% of the money went to \u201cexpenses,\u201d including $979,485 for \u201cconsultants\u201d and an \u201cadvisor.\u201d Yes, consultant\/advisors got more than double what injured troops and the kids of fallen troops got. The tax forms show that \u201cNew World Aviation\u201d got paid $60,601 for \u201cair travel.\u201d Was that for Hannity\u2019s G5? Like I said, neither the charity nor Hannity is talking. And finally, that year, Freedom Alliance spent $1,730,816 on postage and shipping and $1,414,215 on printing, for a total of $3,145,031, nearly half the revenue the charity spent that year and about eight times what the injured troops and the children of fallen ones received.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Read the whole thing &#8212; Freedom Concerts didn&#8217;t respond to Schlussel, who often operates on the fringe.
